Q & A

Q & A

Its natural to have questions or concerns when you visit the dentist. Whether it be for a large procedure or a simple check up. The team at Paul Trembath Dental are always happy to answer any questions you have and have compiled a list of frequently asked questions online for you to view.

  1. I haven’t been to the dentist for a while, so what can I expect from my first appointment at PT Dental ?

Our goal for your first visit is to give you a thorough comprehensive dental assessment. We can then make recommendations for any required treatment, and make you aware of options and the related costs. “A picture says a thousand words.” which is why we show you digital camera images of your teeth on our live monitors so you can really see what’s going on in your mouth. We work with you to design a treatment plan that will see you attaining the smile you have always wanted.

  2. Can I have a beautiful smile without breaking the bank?

Really you are the best judge of your smile. Do you like your smile? How would you change it? It’s important to explain to the PT Dental team how you feel about your smile and how you would like to look. It is well worth looking at all of the available options because improved techniques make this process much more affordable and comfortable.* These treatment options vary in cost according to their complexity, time taken and if laboratory services are needed such as for ceramic veneers or crown work. For more information see “About Your Smile” and “Treatment Planning”.

  3. I am too busy to come during the day… When can you see me?

PT Dental is open Mondays 8:00am – 7:30pm, Tuesdays 7.30am-5.00pm and Wednesday to Friday 8.00am-5.00pm. PT Dental would be happy to accommodate you by an appointment at these times. Click here to make an appointment now!

  4. How often should I have a check up?

Our PCP – or Preventative Care Programme provides regular examinations, preventative treatments and professional cleaning to ensure the dental health of our patients. Time intervals can vary between 1 and 12 months depending on your individual needs, but we would always recommend a check up at least every 6 months. Regular check ups and routine cleaning are often all you need to prevent further problems. For more information on our PCP.

  5. When is the right time for a child’s first check up?

Early visits to the dentist can make sure children grow up confident and happy in a dental setting. We always make sure their first visits are a fun experience. We recommend that your child’s first visit should be before they are 18 months old. Ideally they should be examined within the first 6 months of their baby teeth emerging. Such early diagnosis can ensure there are no developmental issues with your child’s teeth and gums and this helps set them up with healthy teeth for life.

  6. Am I suitable for cosmetic dental treatment?

If you are unhappy with your smile then come in and let us show you all the ways we can help you get the smile you have always wanted.

  7. Can you make my teeth whiter? And what’s the treatment like?

Yes we can. Bleaching treatment has been proven to be both effective and safe in whitening teeth that seem dull, especially if they appear too yellow/brown in colour. Dark and metallic fillings in the “smile zone” can be replaced to give a more natural white smile again.

  8. Why is PT Dental different to my last dentist?

We pride ourselves in maintaining long lasting relationships with our patients. We aim to raise our patient’s awareness of the value of good dental health and to provide a dental office where our patient’s feel comfortable and relaxed.

  9. What payment options do I have?

We accept all major credit cards including VISA and MasterCard and have HICAPS – a direct link with most health funds to process your claims directly, which is a great convenience.
