Self-guided rides by downloading a Ride With GPS route. If you do not see a ride listed you want to ride, please ask. There are many rides in this area. New for 2016 see the Local Hiking Adventures.

**About the Rides:** *Cyclo-Cross, Mountain Biking, Road Cycling:* These rides are designed for the advanced cyclist. While there are many clubs and groups that ride in the Metro Boston area, the rides and routes I have put together are designed differently for a better riding experience. 
The rides listed do have descriptions of difficulty and endurance. If the ride is listed as an advanced level (or Tarzan Ride), you should have full protection/repair gear and stamina for 6+ hours of extreme cycling conditions. I strongly suggest you ride with a partner and/or plan bail-out routes ahead of time. A few of the listed rides are fun rides or rides for couples, etc… Please take seriously any warnings for the harder routes. As always, contact me with any questions.

**About the Routes:** Many of the rides I have incorporated on this page make use of the Public Transportation system in this area. While some rush-hour trains block bicycles, off-hours bicycle travel is always free. This allows vastly expanded ride experiences and, as a result, the quality of the ride is greatly improved.

None of this would be possible without **Ride with GPS**. When viewing my maps, please select for “OSM Cycle view” to see all the trail systems. They are very accurate.

**Visitors:** If you are a visitor to this area, most of the routes I have plotted take you through the most wonderful sites in Eastern Mass. There are hundreds of points-of-interest, too many to list on this page. Also a large number of cities on these routes are tourist destinations and cultural centers. I strongly recommend you use the “MAP” view features on this web site to locate these along the route.
All Coastline routes will always take full advantage of View Points. If I am using a park as a cut-through for longer routes, feel free to explore surrounding trails. However, all my long rides have been balanced for hitting full cardio rates followed by cardio rest periods before the next full cardio event. Meaning, if you have 20 minutes of hard climbs and rough trails, I build into the ride some rest time by routing you onto easier trails.

**Animals:** We have Coyote Packs, Mountain Lions, Bears, Deer, Moose, Rattle Snakes, Bees, Tics, Nats... please take precautions when in the woods alone.

**Ride Warning:** The trail systems here in the Northeast are much different than anywhere else in the country. As an experienced rider that has ridden in California, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Colorado, and Tennessee, I can say these trails are different. Rides listed as “Hard or Extreme" will take you on some of the most difficult terrain in this area. Tire selection is also a key factor to riding here. Most of these “XXX-Rides” are on very technical and obstacle-ridden trail systems which I have selected for your riding enjoyment.

**Park Specific MTB rides:** These routes take you to all the best trails of a specified park, connected in a concurrent fashion. Still feel free to explore the other trails. On any ride, feel free to contact me with questions.
